William SPURRELL

-
Name William SPURRELL Relationship with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Abt 1826 Sampford Spiney, Devon, England Baptised 13 Aug 1826 St. Mary’s Church, Sampford Spiney, Devon, England Gender Male Residence 1841 Hall Farm, Sampford Spiney, Devon, England - With his parents and siblings - the whole family from his parents to his 2 year old sister were bracketed together and shown as "Farmer". Aged 15 William probably did help on the farm.
His maternal grandparents and uncle were a separate household in the same building.
Occupation 1851 Ag labourer - Living with his parents at Hall Farm in Sampford Spiney, not clear if labouring on that farm or another (or both)
Occupation From 1861 to 1892 Hall Farm, Sampford Spiney, Devon, England Farmer - Whilst it's possible William retired from farming and moved to live with his brother James when his daughter married, in 1892, to give the young couple 'space', this seems unlikely as also that year he and his son-in-law jointly took a 14 year lease on Hall Farm from the Reverend John Hall Parlby - at that time his son-in-law, William Henry Glass Isaac, was described as of Sampford Barton while William Spurrell was of Hall Farm.
More likely he moved following his daughter's premature death in 1896, at any rate by 1898.
