"1726 Octr. 22. Edward Grigsby of Barham & Eliz. Martin of ths Parish"
Edward had presumably found employment in 'Barham' but was marrying someone he knew (or his family knew) from close to the parish where he was born and grew up. The parish of Barham is over 30 miles from Marden, and a rural parish with no particular draw for those looking for work so it seems a surprising place for a young man from Marden to have found work. Maybe the Barham referred to was Barham Court, only 7 miles or so from Marden, or the parish of Burham, about 12 miles.
(This Edward had a 1st cousin Edward, son of his uncle Thomas, alive in 1725 when Thomas wrote his will. He too was born in Marden and so might easily have married someone from the neighbouring parish of Staplehurst. However, it seems most likely it was this Edward who married Elizabeth Martin both from the names of their children (all match siblings of Edward, as well as his parents), and from other marriages one of which might have been his cousin's, but a little early for this Edward).
