Name Mary PEPPERELL Relationship with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Baptised 10 Mar 1814 St. Michael and All Angels’ Church, Stokenham, Devon, England - PR entry shows abode Torcross, father a Fisher
Gender Female Died Yes, date unknown Siblings 4 brothers and 3 sisters Patriarch & Matriarch William PEPPERELL, b. Est 1600, bur. Between 18 May 1671 and 25 Jan 1675/76, St. James’ Church, Slapton, Devon, England (Age ~ 71 years) (5 x Great Grandfather)
Mary LORRAIN, d. Yes, date unknown (Grandmother)Notes - (Research):The baptism entry of Mary clearly shows her parents as John and Mary and her father's occupation as 'Fisher'.
The other John and Mary having children at this time only seem to have had one child after the introduction of the formatted baptism registers. That shows they too lived at Torcross, but that John was a husbandman. Assuming there was no mistake in this, or in the description of Mary's father as a fisher, then Mary does seem to have been the child of John and Mary nee Trout. (Also assumes the other John hadn't changed from fishing to farming between 1814 and 1816).
The surprising thing is if Mary was the daughter of the John married to Mary Trout is that he doesn't mention her in his will. This was written in Jan 1831, i.e. just over a year before Mary died. Maybe she was already sick and it was obvious she would not live long enough to warrant a bequest.
