    • Two register entries, both shown on FMP as having archive ref: 3040A/PR/1/3, neither show any extra info. (such as senior, junior etc.)
      However, he can't have died in 1660 as he had children after that, and neither his son nor grandson can have died in 1690 as they had children or married after that, so unless e.g. there were other grandsons namd Richard I think the burial must be this Richard.

      In Boyd's index, he probably used the BTs, unless earlier PRs survived at the time he created his index (1925-1955).
      "[August] 18. Richard Proute, & Johan Board; were marryed." - under heading 'Weddinges - 1617'

      ** At present I am just  guessing that Thomas and Richard were the sons of Richard and Johan **.
      It seems almost certain that there must have been more children, with the known ones being born some 17 years after their marriage, if, that is, I have the right marriage. Of course it is possible that the same Richard was widowed and remarried to another Joan, or that there was another Richard in the Parish, also married to Joan.

      BTs survive for Slapton for the years 1617, 1620, 1623, 1632, 1634 (between 1617 and 1635) so it may be possible to check for more children of Richard and Johan baptised in these years, but from BTs I've seen for other parishes even those that survive have parts of pages missing so not everything is readable.

    • I think the marriage was most likely in the period 1648-1652 when there were very few recorded in the PRs for Slapton. (FMP have few indexed for a few years after this but Boyd has more, I have not yet found out why / how).
      It could, though, have taken place in another parish.

      Mostly I have the children of Richard and Alse by using the FMP index. I have browsed through all the entries page by page from 1653 to 1662 for any other, especially a son Richard, but without joy.
