In the absence of her husband, William was running the greengrocers, while his sister Victoria assisted with the florists, and both were living with Mabel and her daughter Edith. Perhaps this is how William and Edith met for they were to marry two years later. Also present in 1939 was Ralph Bullock, Mabel's father.
