Name Elizabeth MUSCHAMP Relationship with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born 5 Nov 1469 Peckham, London, England - Date from ms book at the British Museum with Muschamp memoranda, cited by book about Camberwell: "Elizabeth Muschamp the first child of Thomas Muschamp esquire Peham in the Count Surr was borne upon the munday at viii of the cloke a fore none upon seint lenard Day the vth day of nombr the xi yere of the reigne of Kyng Edward the iiiith And the godfader sr Water Muschamp Elizabeth wiffe of Rarff of the legh esquyer & the wiffe of Rauffir West Gedindders." - i.e. 5th Nov 1471 (checking, this was a Monday)
This sounds very precise, not just a date (with day of the week) but even a time in the day. Except there are two problems. One is a slight one, St. Leonard's Day is 6th Nov, not 5th, and more seriously Thomas's next child is shown as born in Feb 1470/71.
Clearly if the dates of birth of these children was as given then the birth order is wrong.
Godfather Sir Walter Muschamp was presumably a relation but I don't know how he was related. 'Sir' was probably his title as a priest who had not been to university, rather than as a knight. A Rector was appointed to the Church of St. Margaret "Pattens" in London, following the death of a Walter Muschamp in 1476; I think this is almost Elizabeth's Godfather.
(from Folio 118, c.June 1475 - in Calendar of Letter-Books of the City of London: L, Edward IV-Henry VII, ed. Reginald R Sharpe (London, 1912), pp. 130-142, on the British History Online website) [accessed 10 January 2018].)
I think it improbable he was an uncle, brother of Thomas, since Thomas's father, Thomas senior, had died by 1476 and had not mentioned Walter in his will, but Walter could have been a brother of Thomas senior, or maybe Walter was the younger Thomas's cousin - possibly the son of John, a brother Thomas senior did mention in his will.
Gender Female Died Aft 1498 - Mentioned (as Elizabeth Muschamp, so probably unmarried) as a daughter of Thomas in the will of her grandmother Mawde, written 1498.
