    Notes 
    • (Research):Judging from FMP index of devon CMBs (as on FMP on 25 Nov 2014) there were few Greenings in Devon, and they were particularly concentrated in Bideford.
      Not close to Plymouth, but was the sea the link?
      The above index has five Greenings baptised 1646 +/- 10 years, all the baptisms were in Bideford, 3 fathers (William, Jasper and Christopher). William was probably the one who left a will proved in 1671; he at least was a mariner, as was Richard whose will was proved in 1686. Neither will mentions Joanna or any Gotham. (All wills of Greenings of Bideford where the Devon wills project shows an occupation were mariners)
      Did one settle in Plymouth and his daughter marry there?

      The marriage seems to be a stray Greening event in Plymouth; FMP have (at 19 Oct 2017) the baptism of a Stephen, son of John and Agnes in 1667, but I believe the surname there should be Grenvill.
