  	GRO ref: Tapner, Caroline to Phillips, Frederick q1 1864 Westhampnett RD 2b 431 Details from PR entry (image on Ancestry, viewed 7 Jan 2022) Although the entry names Caroline's father as Thomas Tapner I believe this is a convenience, and there is no reason to think her father was a TAPNER. Her surname was from a Thomas Tapner, but he had died 3 years or so before Caroline was born, and Caroline's baptism suggests she was the illegitimate daughter of a widow.
