Name William GRIGSBY Relationship with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Abt 1734 Headcorn, Kent, England - Date from age on marriage licence allegation, place assumed from place of baptism.
Baptised 15 Dec 1734 St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church, Headcorn, Kent, England - KFHS cd19
Gender Male Occupation 1756 Bicknor, Kent, England Labourer - At the time his marriage licence was granted
Died Aft 1781 - Probably survived his wife as she was shown as his wife when she died, rather than as a widow.
Siblings 3 brothers and 3 sisters Patriarch & Matriarch John GRIGSBY, b. Est 1530, d. Apr 1600, Marden, Kent, England (Age ~ 70 years) (4 x Great Grandfather)
Elizabeth CATT OR KNIGHT, b. Est 1645, (possibly), Headcorn, Kent, England , d. Yes, date unknown (Great Grandmother)Notes - (Research):A William Grigsby (bachelor) married in Headcorn on 26 Feb 1768 - but was recorded as of Chart Sutton. Was it this William or another? (Married Hannah Kingsnorth, spinster, of Headcorn) - KFHS cd 19. I believe it was another. There is such a good match between the siblings of the William baptised in Headcorn in 1734 and the Grigsbys who appeared in the Stockbury area (Stockbury, Hucking and Bicknor) that it seems too much to be co-incidence.
In addition I came up with this theory without having any other evidence for a date of birth for William; since doing so I have found transcribed info. from his marriage licence, which gives his age as 21 in Feb 1756. As chances are he had not by then had his birthday that year, this is a perfect match on age for a baptism in Dec 1734, given that most babies would have been no more than a few months old when baptised.
But I seem to be alone in associating this William, i.e. the one born Headcorn in 1734, with the one who married Susanna Co(u/g)ger.
All other trees I've seen suggest the William who married Susanna was born Bicknor in 1726 or 1731. None provides an actual date (which one might expect if they'd seen a baptism entry), nor any evidence for the place or year, nor (I think) do they show parents (which you'd expect from lots of sources which might suggest a year / probable place of birth - removal documents, baptism, family Bible, will). It seems clear from the Parish Registers for Bicknor that no William was baptized there, and a date of 1726 or 1731 is earlier than that suggested by the marriage licence (transcribed data).
I wonder if one person has guessed a year based on Susanna's age, a place based on where he was 'of' at the time of William's marriage, and everyone else has followed blindly?

Judging from the KFHS transcript there was no indication of the parish which either party were from, or whether they were previously married, or married by banns or licence (no marriages at Headcorn included this info at this time)
