(a 6 x great uncle of mine, I believe)Petty sessions 19 Sep 1845 Tavistock, Devon, England
Fined for beating his wife Died 29 Dec 1847 Horrabridge, Devon, England
Cause: Consumption - GRO ref: Vogwell, William q4 1847 Tavistock RD 9 298; GRO online index shows age at death as 61
Death certificate shows age as 61, "where died" as "Horrabridge, Whitchurch", death was registered by "Jane Williams present at Death", residence of informant was also Horrabridge, Whitchurch. Earlier in December William's daughter Jane had married one William Williams.
The age is probably slightly too old but close enough and no other William Vogwell known of in this area to fit an age of 61. Added to which the death took place in Horrabridge where the census has shown the family lived. It was in the Whitchurch part of it (Horrabridge being where 4 parishes met!) which is where family events had taken place 1821 - 1833, as well as the marriage of his daughter earlier that month, although the 1841 census had suggested they were living in Sampford Spiney parish.
Probably most significantly, the informant for the death registration seems to have been one of this William's daughters.

Notes - The tithe apportionment shows a William Vogwell as occupier of an unnamed house etc. in Sampford Spiney parish, (of size 0 acres 1 rod 21 perches). The property was owned by the Duke of Bedford, a larrge landowner in the area.
Since part of Horrabridge was in Sampford Spiney parish I suspect it was this William.

Other Partners: George RICKARD m. 4 Jul 1848Married 29 Apr 1815 St. Andrew’s Church, Buckland Monachorum, Devon, England
- Entry on FMP - Buckland Monachorum involved - no place given in search results - I thought this might be banns (some entries are) but same on Dartmoor Press as marriage, plus 29th April 1815 was a Saturday and banns were (and are) read on Sundays.
Also, entry on Vogwell website - shows William Vogwell bachelor marr Elizabeth Clynick spinster.
William and Elizabeth seem to have had at least one other child I have yet to find - the petition William made on behalf of his daughter Mary Ann in 1832 refers to 9 children, but Susanna had not then been born.
Given there is a dau Ann, aged 13, in the 1841 census, who doesn't fit clearly as one of the known daughters I suspect this was the 10th. The Ann born 1824 had not died when a 13 year old would have been born; I guess Ann was a second middle name.
