Notes - (Research):In 1676 a George Young consented to the marriage of a Rachel Younge to whom he was guardian - entry in Cowper marriage licences:
"Beverton, Joseph, of Cant., dyer, ba., 22, whose father consents, and Rachel Younge of S. George, Cant., maiden, 19, whose parents being dead, her guardian, Geo. Young, consents, as is testified by Squier Beverton, father of the said Joseph. At S. Mildred, Cant. Oct. 21, 1676."
I guess the guardian was this George - but who was Rachel - a niece? Yes, having now seen his will he leaves a bequest to 'my neece Rachell Beverton'. Unless I am missing a brother, it would seem that Rachel must have been the daughter of his brother Edward.
Rachel would have been born about 1657, i.e. during the interregnum when many PRs have gaps; this is probably why I haven't found her baptism.

There is quite a large gap between Rachel and George's first and second child. I have browsed the PRs for St. Andrew's Church Canterbury for this period and not relied on indexes, and not found another child of theirs. However, I did note an unusually large number of burials of miscarried babies at that church in 1616; I wonder if there was an infection around causing this and if Rachel miscarried that year - maybe at too early a stage for the foetus to be formally buried.
Then another, larger, gap. A George, son of George was baptised in Chislet in 1623 - need to check for another George Young there, and that it wasn't this one temporarily living outside of the city.
