  • Name Mary JESSOP
    Relationshipwith Teresa Ann GOATHAM
    Baptised
    • If I have the right burial then about 1730, from age in burial register
    Gender Female
Poor Law From 1804 to 1807  Buckland Monachorum, Devon, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location  [1
    Outdoor relief in old age
    • Mary Northmore was in receipt of a monthly payment from the Overseers of the Poor from at least 1804 to her death in 1807 (the accounts for April 1807 show 2 shillings rather than the usual four, no doubt due to her death that month). It appears that in March 1804 most of those in receipt of assistance received 3/-, but this was increased to 4/- in April, and received the same up to the time of Mary's death.
(The entries include Mary Northmore from the start of the book in 1804; before then no accounts seem to survive until we are back to 1796; I haven't yet looked at the earlier book so it is possible Mary will appear in payments then)

** n.b. these payments are clearly to the Mary who died in 1807, so they are to this Mary if it were she who died then **
Buried 12 Apr 1807  St. Andrew’s Church, Buckland Monachorum, Devon, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location
    • ** Possibly ** this burial.
Shows age as 77. I am not aware of another Mary who could have been 77 at this time, and bur in Buckland Monachorum, other than Mary Northmore (by birth) wife of Joseph Northmore. Joseph was bur Meavy 1808 - while I've not found his Mary's burial, it seems unlikely she'd have been buried in Buckland the previous year (unless they'd lived in Buckland and then Joseph moved back to Meavy to live with family).
