    Rents a farm
    • Farm of 60 acres.
Why wasn't she described as farmer (or farmeress)? - presumably the census ennumerator couldn't think of a woman as a farmer. Living at Collytown with her were 2 sons, one a farmers son, the other a scholar, a house servant (29 year old Elizabeth Hostin from Meavy) and a farm labourer (25 year old farm labourer from Plympton St. Mary). Given that her sons were aged 12 and 14 there shouldn't have been much child minding needed, so presumably the servant was so Susanna was free to farm.
    Died 20 Jan 1887
