James died in the Union Workhouse in Tavistock; surprisingly he was shown as chargeable to Tavistock rather than Lamerton, but both the date in the Workhouse deaths' register and the place of burial being shown in it as Lamerton confirm it was this James, even though the age was recorded as 72.
