However, there was another William having a family in Stoke Damerel at the same time. This other one was a butcher, and there had been a butcher John Spurrell in Stoke Damerel in 1737 (mentioned in Quarter Sessions), so I think Wm the butcher was probably related to him.
The Wm who I show as son of John was, like John, a carpenter in the Dockyard - this same occupation adds weight to this being the right link.
