  • Name Rebecca BAYLEY
    Relationshipwith Teresa Ann GOATHAM
    Born Abt 1701
    • From age on gravestone, given as 71.
    Gender Female
    Died 30 Mar 1773
    • Buried with Rebecca is a William Pode. He is the right age to be the William who had a brother John Spurrell PODE and a son of that name, but I am not clear what the link to Rebecca is.
His maternal grandparents appear to be a John Julian and Rebecca. Since they seem to have had children from 1736 to 1758 it would seem Rebecca can't have been this Rebecca in an earlier marriage, but she is just about old enough to be mother of that Rebecca - except that she didn't marry John Spurrell until 1740. Could be a child by an earlier marriage
Buried St. Budeaux’s Church, St. Budeaux, Devon, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location  [1
    Notes
    • Surname if a spinster when married - PR entry doesn't make clear; she would have been aged about 39 so could well have been a widow

Married 10 Sep 1740  St. Budeaux’s Church, St. Budeaux, Devon, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location
    • Rebecca's gravestone shows her as the wife of a John Spurrell, gent of the parish of Stoke Damerel. That with the dob suggested by the grave of 1701 makes me think it was probably this John that Rebecca was married to.

From PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 15 Apr 2013):
under headings "Marriages" and 1740 - "Septembr. 10th: were married John Spurrel of Stoke Damarel and Rebecca Bayley of St. Budeaux"
