William WHITEHEAD
Set As Default Person -
Name William WHITEHEAD Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Sep Q 1854 Milton Reg Dist, Kent, England
- GRO ref: Whitehead, William q3 1854 Milton RD 2a 509; GRO online index shows mother's maiden name as Wakeling
Baptised 22 Oct 1854 St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church, Borden, Kent, England
[1] - This baptism would fit nicely between the marriage of Alfred and Mary Ann and the baptism of their daughter tin 1856.
However, the parents were shown as Alfred and Alice rather than Alfred and Mary Ann. On FreeBMD I don't find the marriage of an Alfred Whitehead to an Alice anyone in England and Wales from the start of registration in July 1837 to the end of 1855.
The Vicar uses the mother's name again in the burial notes, but he would probably have had no reason to see, hear or ask it when burying the child, other than in the entry he made when he baptised him, so it could well be just one error repeated, rather than 2 separate errors.
Perhaps he was a bit error prone. The entry for the baptism in the PR is for a 'John' Whitehead. However, the burial is for a William. While the Vicar made a note that it was William on the death certificate, he thought it should be John as in the baptism, but I think he had the wrong name in the baptism. There was no birth of a John Whitehead registered in Milton district in 1854, but there was a William, in the 3rd quarter, and so tying in nicely with an October baptism.
