  Died	2 Apr 1916	Explosive Loading Company's Works, Uplees Marshes, Luddenham, Kent, England
  	Died in a large explosion at a gunpowder factory at Uplees on the banks of the Swale which killed over 100. Like many others his body could not be recognised (hopefully his body being this badly damaged means that he was spared much suffering). For this reason there is no death certificate. More information about the accident can be found on the Roll of Honour website, commemorating the victims. BMDs in East Kent Gazette of 15 April 1916 included: "GOATHAM. On 2 April 1916, killed in an explosion in Kent, Archibald William, dearly beloved husband of Jessie GOATHAM of 8, St. Pauls Street, Milton Regis, age 30y."
  		Faversham Gunpowder Explosion Memorial webpage Ben died not in the military, but seems to have switched from his usual employment to making gunpowder, presumably with the increased demand in wartime, and died in a massive explosion at the works.

  	Archibald is remembered on the War Memorial in the gounds of Holy Trinity Church, Milton Regis, as can be seen in the photograph here. The same website also has an newspaper account of the service at which the memorial was dedicated. The memorial has now been restored after being crushed by a tree in the great storm of 1987; it was restored in 2012 and a photo of the whole restored memorial can be seen here (see this account in The Telegraph of the restoration).
