Anne Drake NORTHMORE
Set As Default Person -
Name Anne Drake NORTHMORE Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Tamerton Foliot, Devon, England
- From the 1851 census where shown as age 15
Baptised 3 May 1835 St. Mary’s Church, Tamerton Foliot, Devon, England
[1] Gender Female Residence 1861 Seven Star Lane, Tamerton Foliot, Devon, England
- With her mother-in-law Elizabeth GLOYN (52, a gardener's widow)and brother-in-law Caleb (17) and sister-in-law Patience A. (6) in Seven Star Lane; at the time of the census her husband was not present. The house was listed immediately before Anne's mother and siblings.
In 1891 and 1901 Ann, with her husband and son(s) - William and Henry and John in 1891, just John in 1901, were shown as living in 'Star Lane' in Tamerton; I suspect this was the same as Seven Star Lane. The previous entry in 1891 was John Kingdon and his family, including wife Patience A, aged 36 - this was Joshua's sister and her family. The widowed Patience was still the previous entry in 1901, with son John shown as an assitant boiler maker, like Joshua and his son John. The Gloyns had a 4 roomed cottage, the Kingdons just 2. (The location of the Gloyns house could probably be worked out approxiamtely at least from the next entry being for Qarrands(?).
In 1911 Joshua and Ann were living alone in Star Lane, still with 4 rooms. Oddly, the number of children they had had was shown as 4, with 4 still living and 0 having died. It is clear from the Parish Register and other info. that they had had at least 9 children, with 5 of these having died (so there were 4 still living). I think Joshua must have misunderstood the question in some way.
