      The mother's maiden name is a surprise, would have expected Russell like her siblings, both older and younger. Was this an error on the certificate? It is certainly there on the GRO copy of the entry, but maybe an error when the details were copied from the local register for the GRO. Or an alias of Jane's?

      Although Jabez and Ellen appear to have separated by 1881, Jabez described himself as married in the 1881-1901 censuses, but as a widower in 1911 so it appears he knew of her death.
