Elizabeth BURGING
Set As Default Person -
Name Elizabeth BURGING Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Baptised 2 Oct 1705 St. Michael’s Church, Blackawton, Devon, England
- Although parents are shown as John and Elizabeth I think this was probably an error, muddling John and Mary with an older couple, John and Elizabeth, possibly the younger John's parents.
John and Elizabeth had married in 1678, so it was possible but unlikely they were still having children; the last before this was baptised in 1696/7. On the other hand, John and Mary had married in 1704; it is possible but unlikely their first child was not born until 1707/8.

- Although being in Blackawton makes this seem the most likely marriage of John and Mary, parents of the children shown, there was another marriage of a John and Mary in Halwell the previous year. It is clear from the registers there was a good bit of movement of people between Halwell and Blackawton, so it would be good to be able to rule the Halwell couple out, bu so far I haven't been able to. Burgoin was not a common name in that parish; there was a burial of a Mary there in 1767, but no other entries that could be the couple who married in 1703 or their parents.
