- Thomas recorded as 'Thomas Eaton', both recorded as being 'of Dartmoth'.
The 'E' of Eaton doesn't look much like an E, but neither is it anything like the Bs and Cs on the page - as transcripts would have it. Looking at the previous page there is the marriaged with a grooms name starting with the same letter, then 'dward' - clearly Edward, so it must be an E. It is easy to see how Eakin could be misheard as Eaton.
