Set As Default Person -
Name Bennett BASTARD Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Baptised 1 Nov 1677 St. Michael and All Angels’ Church, Stokenham, Devon, England
Gender Male Buried 22 Apr 1745 St. Michael and All Angels’ Church, Stokenham, Devon, England
- Could be his son but I think most likely this Benedict
Siblings3 brothers Patriarch & Matriarch
John BASTARD, b. Est 1535, d. Yes, date unknown (2 x Great Grandfather)
Mary PATTRIDY, b. Est 1646, bur. 25 Jan 1715/16, St. Michael and All Angels’ Church, Stokenham, Devon, England
(Age ~ 70 years) (Mother)
Notes - A Bennett was buried in Stokenham in 1687, but he was not shown as 'son of ...' as others were at this time, and there was no other baptism in Stokenham to fit with this marriage. Although there wa no other baptism in Stokenham to fit with the 1687 burial, a Bennit had a son John baptised in Stokenham in 1650 - that was probably the Bennett buried in 1687.

Father John BASTARD, bap. 22 Aug 1647, St. Michael and All Angels’ Church, Stokenham, Devon, England
, d. Yes, date unknown Mother Mary PATTRIDY, b. Est 1646, bur. 25 Jan 1715/16, St. Michael and All Angels’ Church, Stokenham, Devon, England
(Age ~ 70 years) Married 5 May 1668 St. Michael and All Angels’ Church, Stokenham, Devon, England
- Was it this John? There were John's baptised in Stokenham in 1647 and 1650/1, no earlier ones known of. About 21 was young to marry but some did; 17 would have been very unusual, so I think it probably was this John.
On the other hand, John did name a son Bennett, and the John baptised in 1650/1 was the son of a Bennett. So maybe I have the marriage and children attached to the wrong John, or maybe there was a marriage I don't know of and the children are not all of this marriage.
Or maybe there was a third John. There were marriages 1653 - 1663 of a Margret, Agnes and Annes Basterd; I have found no earlier information for these 3.
