Notes - (Research):It seems clear that he followed William Halke as Rector of Upminster because he was a relation and the family had acquired the gift of the living, but how he was related is not clear.
There is no mention of a Michael in William's will. He did not name his children, clearly some were young and I suspect that all were too young for a son to have followed him, but I could be wrong about this.
A Michael Halke was baptised in Canterbury in 1588, son of a Thomas Halke; I think that Thomas was probably the brother of the Rev. William Halke. The Canterbury Michael left Canterbury School part way through 1602, the year that Venn's Alumni Cantabrigienses shows that the Michael who was ordained was admitted at Cambridge. Hence it seems reasonable to assume the two are the same, especially given that Michael seems to have been an unusual name amongst the Halke family.
