Mary HALKE
Set As Default Person -
Name Mary HALKE Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Baptised 2 Apr 1719 All Saints’ Church, Petham, Kent, England
- From KFHS CD 33
Gender Female Died Aft 1787 - Still alive when her husband Hopkins wrote his will.
(I have not yet seen her husband's willbut have seen abstract of it on Ancestry, 31 Dec 2015)
There is no mention of her on the tablet in Nackington Church to her husband and their son William's family.
Did she die many years earlier and was buried elsewhere? Or move away after Hopkins died and was buried elsewhere? She could have remarried but age about 70 when Hopkins died this would not have been very likely.
Mary Fox is such a common name that it is difficult to identify her.
A Mary Fox remarried in Nackington in 1790, but as already said it is unlikely she re-married, and the Mary in that marriage was of the parish of St. George, Canterbury. (The marriage and banns registers do not show if Mary was a spinster or widow)

Abt Sep 1708Married Abt 1716 - Mary's first husband was likely some sort of cousin of Thomas; Thomas's mother was a Thompson as well, and a yeoman of the same name (George Thompson), like Mary's husband a yeoman of Petham, provided the bond when his parents married.

Family Hopkins FOX, bap. 6 Nov 1711, St. Mary’s Church, Nackington, Kent, England
, d. 22 Apr 1787 (Age ~ 75 years) Married 28 Jun 1740 St. Mary’s Church, Nackington, Kent, England
- Hasted described the Thomas with the table tomb in Petham as the father of the Mary who married Hopkins Fox, and having seen the tomb for myself I can just about read that Thomas died leaving one son and one daughter, the latter named on the tomb as "Mary Wife of Hopkins Fox of Nackington".
Date and place from Tyler's notebook (image on Ancestry, viewed 31 Dec 2015) - assuming he got the information from the PR, and not from the licence.
