Thomas HALKE
Set As Default Person -
Name Thomas HALKE Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Baptised 12 Feb 1720/21 All Saints’ Church, Petham, Kent, England
- From KFHS CD 33
Gender Male Miscellaneous 1760 All Saints’ Church, Petham, Kent, England
- In 1760 the three bells were disposed of and replaced with 6.
On the fourth the name Thomas HALKE is inscribed. The reason is not clear. The fifth had the name of the bell hanger, the sixth of the curate and churchwarden. Maybe Thomas gave a donation towards the bells. Or maybe it was to include the name of an earlier Thomas HALKE, placed on a bell made only 54 years earlier, who was at that time churchwarden.
(my speculation about who and why with info. from Fausset's notes, on the Kent Archaeological Society website, no. 18)
