    • 'The Visitation of Kent, 1619' shows James [Jacobus], the son of Sampson's marriage to Jane Hummerson, as his 3rd son, the first 2 being from his marriage to Alice. If this is correct then Sampson must have married Alice by about 1584, more likely a few years earlier.
      Alice was shown as the daughter of Alexander Plott of Stockbury.
      Details from Kent marriage index, on FMP, shows Sampson Handfield to Alice Ploot. Shown as 1566, the index seems to use NS dates (it certainly is in some cases) and I am assuming it is here.

    • Sampson's son James, shown in a visitation as son of his wife Jane, was probably not born until 1595 at the earliest, suggesting Sampson married Margaret after that.
      With Sampson Handfield being such an unusual name, and with him having a wife named Margaret when he wrote his will, I'm confident that this London marriage must be his. (on FamilySearch and in Boyd's index)
