Richard HALKE
Set As Default Person -
Name Richard HALKE Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Est 1462 - Based on my estimates of when his sons were born. However, given both that I could easily be some years out with my date for William and how little I know about Richard this is only a very rough estimate.
A pedigree seems to show Richard as 2nd son of John but also to give him the central position - was this position because the eldest had died without issue so John's line was the senior surviving one, or because it was the central line for the [unknown] person for whom the tree was made? I suspect the latter.
Gender Male Will 2 Sep 1545 - Richard of Wye left a will, written 1545 and proved in 1547 (ref. PRC/17/26/120 - info. from the East Kent Wills Index, now called the Canterbury Probate Records (1396-1858) Database)
Seen and copy printed on a trip to Kent in the summer of 2015; although I am now more confident about it being this Richard's will I'm still not certain - but at the time of writing I have quite a bit more to do in terms of going through the wills, tracking property through them etc.

The will of Richard Halke (d. 1546)
Richard Halke is, I think, my 12 x great grandfather.Buried 19 Oct 1546 Ss. Gregory and Martin’s Church, Wye, Kent, England
- From PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 5 Aug 2015)
"Rychard Hawke the Eldr was buryed the xix day of octob[er] Ao ? supa [the year written above]" - and the year written above is 'buryalls in the xxxviii yere of kyng henry the viiith' .
Probate 1547 Archdeaconry Court, Canterbury, Kent, England
- (My print of the will just has the 2 words 'Probatum fuit' - I guess the rest is the next page and I missed printing it, but the line is incomplete - was it missing in the register?)

Notes - Named as his grandfather by Richard Halke in a Court of Chancery case in 1563.
An act, archives ref. PRC 3/11/71, and dated 1546 in index (Canterbury Probate Records Database) refers to a Richard Hawke of Wye, with son Thomas and brother William. (I am not clear if 'brother' refers to William being the brother of Thomas or of Richard). It would seem to apply to this Richard - or at least, to the Richard who left a will proved in 1547.

Family [ - ? - ], d. Bef 1546 Married - I know that Richard had a son William (from later docs referring to William's father as a Richard), but the other children of Richard shown here depend on this being the Richard who died in 1547. If I am wrong and it was Richard the son of Sampson (d. 1488) who died in 1547 then the other children go with him.
