Notes - (Research):Who was Mary?
The marriage entry seems to suggest she was a Shepherd when she married Richard. But was she a spinster or a widow?
The censuses consistently suggest she was born about 1797 or 8. In the 1871 census she is shown as the sister of William Northmore (son of Wm Northmore and Elizabeth Hillson). If she was his sister then was she a Northmore? Or was she born to her parents before they married and so a Hillson?
The censuses show her as born Cornwood but the baptism register has no entry for the baptism of a Mary Shepherd, Northmore or Hillson at that time.
Perhaps she was a foundling or for some other reason brought up in the Northmore household.
