Sampson HELE
Set As Default Person -
Name Sampson HELE Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Abt 1582 - Shown as aged 24 at the death of his father (according to Vivian, presumably from his father's IPM) but shown as aged 15 at matriculation in 1597 (according to Alumni oxonienses) - I have assumed the latter is correct at present, as 13 would be very young to matriculate.
Gender Male Education From 6 May 1597 Broadgates Hall [Pembroke College], Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England
- "Hele, Sampson, of Devon, arm. Broadgates Hall, matric. 6 May, 1597, aged 15; of Gnaton and of Halwell, Devon (s. Walter of Lewston), M.P. Plympton 1614, Tavistock 1624-5; made his will 10 Oct., 1653, proved 4 Dec., 1655 (probably brother of Arthur 1595, and of John 1605); father of Matthew 1634. See Foster's Parliamentary Dictionary."
Occupation From 1614 Member of Parliament - For Plympton Erle in 1614, Tavistock in 1624
Residence 1620 Gnaton, Newton Ferrers, Devon, England
Administrator From 24 May 1632 Of his mother's estate - Sampson was granted admon. two days after his mother's burial, in May, but it was not until December that year that he exhibited a probate inventory.
Biography Move Between 1634 and 1641 - From Gnaton, Newton Ferrers to Halwell, South Pool
Between the baptism of his son Arthur and the protestation oath.
I have not yet found the baptism of his son Nicholas, quite likely because he was born after the family had left Newton Ferrers and moved to South Pool; the South Pool PRs don't survive from early enough, and the BTs survival is patchy.
If so, the move would seem to have been between 1633 and 1636.
Residence to 1634 Gnaton, Newton Ferrers, Devon, England
Protestation oath Between 1641 and 1642 South Pool, Devon, England

Father Walter HELE, b. Abt 1551, d. 20 May 1609, Holy Cross Church, Newton Ferrers, Devon, England

Family Joan GLANVILLE, b. Est 1592, (probably), Tavistock, Devon, England
, d. Aft 1653 (Age ~ 62 years) Married Bef 1613 - Date estimated from age of their oldest child in 1620 visitation, which suggests that child was born 1613 or 14. Vivian shows another (older) who had died in infancy. Hence it appears that Sampson and Joan would have married by 1613.
Sons should be in order, and daughters should be in order, but apart from those named in the 1620 visitation I don't know how the daughters were interspersed amongst the sons, and I am guessing the gaps between them.
