A 13 x great grandfather of mineDied 15 Jul 1567 - An article on the British History Online website about Litte Comberton shows Robert as having died the 15 July 1567 i.e. the same day he wrote his will. I guess the date on the will is that on which the scribe presented the written up will for signing, and he could have died the same day, but I wonder if there was a transcription error in recording the date in the book or in transferring it to BHO. Seeing the IPM should answer this.

There (is or was?) an inscription in the hall
"Robert Morgan and Mary his wife built this house,
In their own life time, at their own charge and cost.
What they spent, that they lent,
What they gave, that they have,
What they left, that they lost".
'Their' own expence (as opposed to 'Robert built .. at his expence') may be indicative of the importance of Mary's inheritance to the cost. Mary was a co-heir to her father, who had land etc. as tenant in chief in both Somerset and Wiltshire. I have yet to see the IPMs, so don't know how much property he owned (nor whether he had other property but not as tenant-in-chief, which seems likely) nor how many daughters this was divided between.

After 4 sons, with birth order shown is a Francis with no such comment, so I guess a daughter. However, all the other daughters are either shown as married or unmarried. Maybe Francis died in infancy and Robert (or whoever gave the information) did not think it appropriate to include such information.
Estimates of birth dates based on approximate date of oldest son, but I don't know the gaps nor how the daughters were dispersed amongst the sons. I am also guessing that the order of the daughters shown in the visitation is their birth order, but it may not be.
(Was the 4th son Thomas, whose descendants are shown in Colby's 1623 visitations of Dorset, p.73? - possibly not, as the arms described have some differences to those of the Mapperton Morgans, though I don't know enough about heraldry to be sure).
