Father Thomas BOYS, b. Abt 1527, bur. 3 Mar 1599/00, St. Nicholas’ Church, Barfreston, Kent, England
(Age ~ 73 years)
Other Partners: Mary m. 16 Jul 1588Mother Christian SERLYS, b. Est 1536, bur. 28 Jul 1587, Ss. Peter and Paul’s Church, Eythorne, Kent, England
(Age ~ 51 years) Married Abt 1555 - Christian was named as a Boyes in her uncle Robert Serlys' will.
Oxford DNB shows that the Dean of Canterbury John Boys was the son of Thomas and Christian née Serlys, hence I am showing her husband as Thomas.
The ODNB also identifies this Thomas as the one who had a family in Eythorne and the burial of his wife Christian there seems to confirm the link is correct.
The memorial to Thomas also confirms the link.
According to the ODNB John was one of 10 children, and the memorial to Thomas describes them as having 6 sons and 4 daughters, but there are only 8 baptisms of Thomas's children there. Whilst the ODNB could be wrong or 2 baptised elsewhere, the most likely explanation is that the register only goes back to 1559 and with the earliest known baptism of a child of Thomas being in 1560 the missing 2 could well have been baptised before then.
The date is assuming that there were 2 children baptised before 1560.

Family Anne SMITH, bur. 15 Jun 1614, St. Nicholas’ Church, Barfreston, Kent, England
Marriage License 19 Apr 1597 Canterbury, Kent, England
- "Boys, Edward, son of Thomas Boys of
Barfestone, g., and Agnes[sic] Smith of
Dymchurch, v. April 19, 1597."
(Cowper, 1st series)
Married 21 Apr 1597 St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church, Dymchurch, Kent, England
- From FamilySearch and East Kent marriage index.
Did Edward marry Agnes and / or Anne?
Although Agnes in marriage licence data transcribed by Cowper (check), 'Anne Smyth' in marriage register, as well as Anne in burial register, so I think it was just one person with an error on the marriage licence or Cowper's transcription.
Varous transcriptions of marriage and marriage licence are consistent with the year of 1597 so if the date of Anne's baptism is also correct it would appear Edward had a marriage before that to Anne.
The PR definitely has the baptism in 1593 - but is it an original register or written up afterwards? I suspect the date 1593 is correct but could check the ATs.
