Elizabeth DAY
Set As Default Person -
Name Elizabeth DAY Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Abt 1866 Otham, Kent, England
- From the 1911 census where shown as aged 44; also, shown as aged 23 at marriage.
GRO ref: Day, Elizabeth q3 1866 Maidstone RD 2a 518
(although Elizabeth Day is quite a common name, Otham, the birthplace given in the censuses, was in Maidstone RD, and this is the only birth of an Elizabeth Day in Maidstone RD 1865-7)
Shown as born 'Otham, Maidstone' in both the 1901 and 1911 censuses, but shown as Lenham in 1891. I at first suspected this was an ennumerator error, mis-reading the household return. (The 1911 census entry was filled in by Elizabeth's husband, so less likely to contain an error of this sort.) However, Elizabeth, shown as born Otham, was living in Lenham in the 1871 census, so I guess that the information was given by Thomas, who knew his wife had lived as a young girl in Lenahm and had assumed that that was where she was born.
Gender Female Disability From 1888 Deaf - Shown in the 1911 census as having been deaf for 23 years, although this was not noted in the 1901 or 1891 censuses.

Shows Thomas Edward OTTAWAY aged 23, labourer, a Bachelor, son of Thomas, married Elizabeth DAY, aged 23, Spinster, daughter of Henry, both bride and groom being of Challock, married by Banns witnesses Alfred Ottaway and Rosa Ann Tamsett.
The KFHS data records the banns register as showing the marriage as being on 9 Oct. I don't know if there is an error in one of the registers or if this is a transcription error.
The 1911 census shows that Thomas and Elizabeth had 6 children together, all of whom were still living (and all six were with them at the time of the census)
