Mayor of the Borough of Dunheved - I am guessing it was this Sampson who was Mayor, though it could have been his son of the same name.
List on the Launceston then! website shows 'Sampson Grylles' as Mayor for the year 1585-6. There was a change of mayor each year in the borough at this time, but with the same names performing the office again a few years later. Sampson probably died before it was his turn again.
