Sampson GRILLS
Set As Default Person -
Name Sampson GRILLS Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born - Described as the eldest son of Sampson and Dorothy in the will of his uncle William Grills
Gender Male Godparent - A number of godchildren were named and left bequests by Sampson in his will (5 shillings except where shown otherwise):
Honnor Hawke
Robert Barrett
Two sons of Jerome Gaye (2/6 each)
Nathaniel Bounsall
Richard Gewene
Some others mentioned within or just before the bequests to godchildren I suspect were also godchildren:
Sampson Haynes, son of 'widdow Haynes' was mentioned between Jerome Gaye's sons and Nathaniel Bounsall (left 5/-)
Sampson Patison was mentioned between Nathaniel Bounsall and Richard Gewene (but left just 12d)
Two nephews, Sampson Grills and Oswell Horsham were mentioned just before those described as 'godsonne' or 'goddaughter'.
I suspect these were godsons. Reason:
Both were left him five shillings, like most of the godchildren. The bequests are away from the bequests to their parents, Sampson's siblings. Both the position and amount suggest to me that Oswell and Sampson were also godsons.
