Hannah
Set As Default Person -
Name Hannah Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Est 1760 Gender Female Buried 10 Jul 1802 St. John the Baptist Church, Bredgar, Kent, England
- From KFHS transcribed data, shown as W[ife]? of Richard Senr, a Carpenter.
Notes - Transcribed data shows she was a widow, Hannah REASON, and of Sittingbourne when she married Richard Wood.
A Thomas and Hannah REASON had a daughter Harriott baptised in Sittingbourne in 1780. There seem to have been no other children baptised before or after this date. It seemed likely it was this was the Hannah who remarried in 1782.
However, a Thomas REASON was baptised in Sittingbourne in 1758 and buried there in 1829.
This could mean: it was a different Thomas REASON who married Hannah - though I can find no likely burial (could he have died at sea?)
OR Hannah was not the one married to a Thomas REASON
OR Hannah and Thomas had split up.
If it was a different Hannah who married Richard WOOD, what happened to the one married to Thomas? - I can find no other burial or re-marriage that could be her. - (Research):Probably the Hannah who as Hannah West, Spinster had married William Reason, Bachelor, both being of Frindsbury, married at Frindsbury in 1771; searching marriages on FMP (including the East Kent marriage index) and the West Kent marriage index (on KFHS CD 36) this seems to be the only one recorded with a Hannh marrying someone with the name 'REASON' (spelt like this) in the 20 years before the marriage of Hannah to Richard Wood, but I haven't done enough research to be sure there weren't other spellings, etc. or to see what became of William and Hannah Reason.
There was also a marriage at Ryarsh in 1771 of a John Rossom to a widow Hannah Lander; Rossom could have been a variant spelling of Reason.
