    • Assumed from marriage licence.
Thomas's mother Mary left bequests to her grandsons Thomas Apslye and George Apsly and to "there five bretheren". This suggests that by 1617 Thomas and Dorothy had had seven sons who were then living. The absence of a mention of any daughters suggests if they had had any they had died, but it is possible that 'brethren' was being used as male forms often are to include the female when there is a mixture of the two, and that the five unnamed included daughters as well as sons.

    • From Cowper's marriage licences (vol 1, col. 12):
Thomas of Benenden mar 1601 -
      "Apseley, Thomas, of Benenden, clothier,
      and Dorothy Marcklye of Marden,
      v. At St. Margaret's, Cant. Feb.
      15. 1601."

Family Jane,   bur. 10 Sep 1679, St. George’s Church, Benenden, Kent, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location
    Married
    • Seven children baptised in Benenden 1631 - 1644 (names and dates on KFHS CD 12). George named as father of all, Jane as mother for the five baptised 1634-1641.
Mother not named foro the two born before 1634 or the one born in 1644 so it is possible they were the children of George and a different wife - and of course it is just possible George had more than one wife named Jane.
With the KFHS transripts showing no Jane buried in Benenden until 1679 (who was the wife of George) it seems that the child baptised 1644 was the son of both George and Jane.
Two children were buried in infancy / childhood.
