Vivian shows Richard as the brother of this John, but the dates don't make sense, since Vivian also shows John the son of this John as having a son William who had a son born in about 1446. If this John was the brother of Richard he was born about 1389, and can't have had a great grandson down the male line born in 1446.
I say 'Vivian shows' but he may well be representing accurately what is shown in the visitation, it is not uncommon for them to muddle generations.
