This suggests John had a 4th wife before the three by whom he left his 3 co-heiress daughters.
I need to see the document to confirm the catalogue entry is correct. Also, I think it is possible that John's first wife was Thomasia (Thomasina?) and not Alice, as there seems to have been some confusion over his wives. I have as yet done very little research into John and his family.
