  • Name Richard POLYBLANK
    Relationshipwith Teresa Ann GOATHAM
    Gender Male
    Occupation From 1834
    Carpenter in the Royal Navy
    • From Discovery (TNA catalogue) entries for allotments lists.
These show that in 1834 Richard was sending wages to his mother Mary, but in 1836, 1836/7 and 1838 there are records for him sending wages to his wife Sarah.

The 1836/7 allotment record includes the date and place of Richard's marriage, confirming it was this Richard; all the allotments include the payees address and his wife Sarah's address confirms the death duties index entry is for this couple.

    to wife Sarah
    • From death duty record.
    Died Abt 1843
    • Before his widow remarried.
The death duties index for 1843 shows that admon. for a Richard Polyblank had been granted to Sarah Polyblank, of 22 George St Devonport. The Sarah who subsequently married John Pitts was living in George Street with her parents at the time of the 1841 census.

There is no death registration that seems to match - I guess that Richard died at sea.
