  	GRO ref: Anderson, Ellen to Bellett, John q2 1859 Totnes RD 5b 295 Actual date and place from 'The Family Register' of John and Ellen - a sheet of paper listing their marriage and their children's births, also from PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 7 Sep 2018). Whilst the information about John and Ellen on the marriage entry leave it ambiguous as to which John married Ellen (this one or his cousin born 1830 in Dartmouth), other evidence shows it was this John. The marriage entry shows that he was aged 24 (fits this, not the other John), that his father was called John (fits the other, not this John), and his father was a labourer (good fit for neither, but I guess a fisherman might be regared as a labourer, but could suggest - as I now believe it does - not fit because the John was invented to hide illegitimacy). Evidence it was this John: master and mates certs for this John show he lived in Dartmouth, overseas death index shows the birthplace of the John who died on 23 June 1878 as Kngsbridge, probate calendar entry shows the John who died on 23 June 1878 was the husband of Ellen.
