William FINNEMORE
Set As Default Person -
Name William FINNEMORE Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Between 1798 and 1804 Eggbuckland, Devon, England
- About 1804 from age given when he married Mary Northmore (62) but shown as aged 72 in the 1871 census.
Most likely about 1798, as he may have reduced his age at remarriage to lessen the difference, and the only death registration which seems likely to be his agrees with 1798
Gender Male Occupation From 1841 to 1871 Ag labourer Occupation Between 1871 and 1881 Gardener - Despite being referred to as an agricultural labourer in all the censuses to 1871, in 1881 he is shown as 'Formerley Gardener' and his wife as a 'Gardener's Wife'. Presumably he worked as a gardener for sometime in the 1870s.

Details from PR entry
Shows William Finnemore, aged 62, widower, laborer, abode 7 Tin Street, father Richard Finnemore, a Laborer married
Mary Knight, aged 54, no occupation given, abode 7 High Street, father Joseph Northmore, a Laborer.
Both made their marks, as did witness Sarah Northmore; other witness William Peter Henry White signed. Married by banns.
Separated Between 1871 and 1881 - Together at the time of the 1871 census, this marriage seems to have effectively ended sometime between then and the 1881 census. In the latter Mary is shown as married but is living in Plymouth with her unmarried daughter Emma, while William appears as a widower, in Devonport living with his daughter Fanny and her family. Although both died the same year their deaths were registered in different Registration Districts, Williams in Stoke Damerel (which included Devonport), Mary's in Plympton - perhaps she had moved after Emma married in 1883, or after Emma's death in 1886.
