Shows Joseph Swan, son of Elisah Swan, baptised 1701 (not clear if OS or NS)

This baptism seems likely to be this Joseph, from date and location, but it would be good to find more evidence. Might have been expected to name a son Elisha, after his father. That said, names were often after godparents (who were often also family members, so can be hard to work out the reason). In this case Elisha died before any of Joseph's children were born, and Elisha hadn't given his name to a son, so no Uncle Elisha to be a godfather. Ralph could be from Cathrine's brother. Her father's name wasn't used either, although both mother's names were.
