FORTE
Set As Default Person -
Name FORTE Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Gender Male Died Bef 1570 - Before his wife remarried
Notes - (Research):A Thomas Forte was buried in Ash in 1567 - is this whose widow Clemys was? He appears not to have left a will but a probate inventory survives - this may name his widow - to be seen.

Family Clemys, b. Est 1530, d. Yes, date unknown
Other Partners: Leonard CARLIEL m. 15 Jun 1570; Thomas MYDDLETON m. 15 Jul 1583Married Bef 1570 - Clemys was a Forte when she remarried as a widow in 1570. If she was the mother of Anne Forte (as shown) then her marriage would have been before about 1549.
* I am guessing that Anne was their daughter since she (Anne) gave a daughter the unusual Christian name Clemys. *
I am sure this can't have been a co-incidence, and if widow Clemys Forte was not Anne's mother it could suggest she was only a relation by marriage, and the name less likely to be passed on. There are, though, other possibilities. Anne could have been acknowledging a step-mother, or Clemys could have been a blood relation as the same families often intermarried several times. Children were often given the name of a godmother; Clemys senior might have been godmother of Clemys junior.
