  • Name Richard SACKETT
    Relationshipwith Teresa Ann GOATHAM
    Born Est 1540
    • ** This is a very rough estimate. **
It is based on estimate of a date of birth for his sister Alice. The later can be estimated to within a few years, from the date of her first marriage and the dates when her first and last children were baptised, to probably 1540-45, almost certainly within the range 1538-1550,  but with Richard it is much more difficult; he could easily have been 20 + years older or younger than Alice, quite a lot more if they did not share a mother (the largest age difference between half siblings sharing a father on my tree is 49 years!).
    Gender Male

    • Where he was living and farming when he died.
    Will 31 May 1604
    Written
    • Richard seems to have left no wife of children, all his bequests were to his sister Alice and her family.
Most were to her and her children and a few grandchildren, but there were also small bequests to Denise Derrick, her step-daughter, and Joan Solly, a Wildbore before she married, probably the sister of Alice's husband George, who also left her a bequest.
    Died Between 31 May 1604 and 3 Oct 1604
    • Richard must have died between writing his will and it being proved.
Probate 12 Dec 1604  Archdeaconry Court, Canterbury, Kent, England See the place on a map and other information about it - if available (many more will be in time); also all individuals with events at this location
    Buried
    • The most likely place of burial would seem to have been Minster in Thanet, and in his will Richard requested his body be buried in the church or churchyard there.
However, there is no record of his burial in the PR, which is intact, and the style of writing and the signing of the pages point to it not being a later copy. These things do not, of course, give any indication of how meticulous the priest was (or wasn't) in recording all the burials.
