  	Died when the plane of which he was captain and pilot crashed. According to this website "Incorrect flap reading led to wrong selection on take off. By the time the pilot had realised the possible reason for the aircraft not becoming airborne it was too late to avoid the crash. The co-pilot ejected shortly before the crash but his ejection was outside the design limits of the seat and he did not survive." (This website also gives the ages of the victims which confirms that it was this G. A. Goatham who died)The crash was reported in The Times on 18th June, p.11 (issue 5542) Six Killed in R.A.F. Bomber Crash From our correspondent Nicosia, June 17 An R.A.F. Victor bomber from Cottesmore crashed at Akrotiri yesterday morning killing the crew of six. The aircraft, which was engaged on a routine training flight from England to Aden, had stayed overnight at Akrotiri. It crashed about half-a-mile from the runway after the take-off, and burst into flames. The official announcement last night named the six dead as Flight Lieutenant G. A. Goatham, captain (Sittingbourne); Flying Officer A. W. Mitchell (Headley), Flight Lieutenant J. Gray (Kirkcaldy);  Flight Lieutenant D. C. Brown (Blackburn); Flying Officer A. P.
