Name William PITTS Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Born Abt 1692 - From age on gravestone
Gender Male Occupation Between 1765 and 1768 Dawlish, Devon, England
Malster - 'William Pitts of Dawlish, maltster' is referred to in the release of a property in West Teignmouth in 1765 and 1768; it seems highly probable it was this William Pitts, since I have found no evidence of any other in Dawlish at this time.
(Documents at PWDRO, not yet seen - information from catalogue entries:
1765 release and 1768 release.
Died 3 Nov 1771 Buried 5 Nov 1771 St. Gregory the Great’s Church, Dawlish, Devon, England
- From PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 22 Oct 2017)
Nothing to indicate the burial was this William Pitts, but it seems probable - I cannot find another burial that appears likely to be this William, and age on gravestone is compatible:
"Here lyes the body of Mr. William Pitts of this parish who departed this life Novbr the 3rd 1771 Aged (79) years"
(from Dawlish Local History Group website, grave E095)
