Gender Male Middle name relationship The married surname of his great grandmother Ann Digance's sister Sarah and ... - Frank wasn't very closely related to a Gotham, but had two links to Samuel George GOTHAM - the closer by marriage, slightly more distantly a blood link (though not descent).
Firstly, Samuel had married Sarah, the sister of Frank's great grandmother Ann DIGANCE. Samuel and Sarah appear to have had no children. Samuel died first and in his will left everything to Sarah. Sarah appears to have been close to her Walder relations, making Frank's uncle William Walder one of her executors. Apart from small bequests to the executors, she left everything to two surviving siblings, or their children if they predeceased her. She left nothing to the children of her sister Ann; Frank's middle name does not seem to be in acknowledgement of a bequest promised, but may have been thanks for help or hoping that he may be favoured with bequest.
The blood relationship is that Frank's great great grandmother Elizabeth Hartley (the mother of Sarah and Ann Digance) was sister to Hannah, mother of the aforementioned Samuel George GOTHAM, i.e. Frank Gotham WALDER and Samuel George GOTHAM were 1st cousins 3 x removed.
