Sarah Gotham KEELING, [G-D(LS)]
Set As Default Person -
Name Sarah Gotham KEELING Suffix [ONS gp] [G-D(LS)] Relationship
with Teresa Ann GOATHAM Baptised 5 Oct 1834 Shelton, Staffordshire, England
Born 16 Dec 1834 - Date from baptism register - yes, it shows a date after that of the baptism. Since the baptism is listed in the middle of a list of baptisms on 5 Oct I think that date is probably correct. All the other births on the page are earlier in 1834; I suspect this one should have been 1833 but the minster was in the habit of writing '1834' and forgot this.
Gender Female Middle name relationship Her mother's maiden name - Although Gotham was her mother's maiden name, her maternal grandmother's married name was Sarah GOTHAM so it seems likely she was being named after her. (The young Sarah was buried two days after her namesake, in the same churchyard).
Died Mar Q 1839 Stoke on Trent Reg Dist, Staffordshire, England
- GRO ref: Keeling, Sarah q1 1839 Stoke on Trent RD 17 129; GRO online index shows age at death as 4
Buried 21 Jan 1839 St. Mark’s Church, Shelton, Staffordshire, England
- From PR entry (image on FMP, viewed 30 Mar 2018)
Although this just gives her name as Sarah Keeling, I think it was this Sarah; there is no other sign of her with the middle name Gotham, and she was not with her parents at the time of the 1841 census. In addition, they called another daughter Sarah in 1841.
Her Gotham grandmother was buried in the same place two days earlier - they were probably interred in the same grave.

May have had a daughter Clara who was born and died in 1855. Her birth registration (entries in indexes) show that her mother's maiden name was Gotham, but I think it more likely that she was the daughter of George Keeling who had married Ann Gotham.
