It seems safe to assume that Ernest was the son of George and Elizabeth; not only were his birth and death being in Shardlow RD, where I don't think any other Gotham family lived, but his burial was in Alvaston, where there were other family events, and his abode then shown as Allenton, also shown as the family's abode when siblings were baptised.
